

Kailua-Kona, indeed the entire Big Island, is a doing place, scenes of scuba
divers and snorkelers, outrigger and kayak paddlers, fishermen, joggers,
bicyclists and hikers fuel your imagination for planning your adventures.
Many important historical sites are within easy access of Kona, including
the Captain Cook Memorial and refuge. Volcano National Park, where visitors
can often view flowing lava, is a favorite. Mauna Kea observatories, Hilo
and the Waipio Valley are easily accessible day trips. Other island
attractions such as world famous beaches, coral reef snorkel and scuba
diving are located close to Kailua-Kona, and don't forget to try the
wonderful coffee Kona is famous for!
The condo is centrally located in the heart of oceanside Kailua-Kona
village. Take a two minute waterside walk along Alii Dr. through the village
to ocean swimming by the Kona harbor pier, the site of many activities
including the world famous Kona Ironman Triathalon which is held annually in
mid-October. Also enjoy the Mokuaikaua Church, located next door to the
condo and tour Hulihe's Palace (the royal palace) directly across the street
at the water's edge. Alii Drive, a favorite walking/jogging route and home
to many fine shops and restaurants, runs in front of the condo building and
winds its way for miles along the Kailua-Kona waterfront linking many of the
area beaches and attractions.
Street level shops in front of the condo building include Hula Bean Coffee
which also serves gourmet ice cream, a Crazy Shirt store and a bookstore as
well as several other interesting small shops and restaurants. Across the
street is the Kona Inn Shopping Village, the historic water's edge complex
which includes the well-known Kona Inn restaurant/bar and numerous other
tourist-oriented shops, activity planners, bike rentals, and more.
